More Ways to Participate
DOCENT—Theatre tours are held monthly, both for the public as well as private groups who have scheduled ahead. These tours are led by Friends volunteers who have been properly trained and tested in Theatre knowledge and tour protocol. After they are trained the Docent Chairman notifies them of their assignments on a monthly basis.

DONOR—For those people who do not have time to volunteer at the Orpheum they may choose to make a tax-deductible donation to The Friends organization. These donations are used for projects that benefit the Theatre as well as the Community.Return to Ways to Participate.
ARCHIVES—Collects, catalogs and displays artifacts, memorabilia, etc., connected with the Orpheum Theatre and continue to add to the Orpheum calendar a chronological listing of Orpheum performances and events that have occurred at the Theatre from its opening in 1929 to the present.Return to Ways to Participate.
BYLAWS—Reviews current Bylaws and Standing Rules and suggests changes or revisions to the Board.Return to Ways to Participate.
MAILING—Handles bulk mailing of the newsletter, Usher sign-ups, event invitations, and any other materials necessary to keep the general membership informed.Return to Ways to Participate.
MEMBERSHIP—Maintains membership records, processes new and renewing member applications and acknowledges members’ efforts.Return to Ways to Participate.
NEWSLETTER—Writes and publishes a bi-monthly member newsletter.Return to Ways to Participate.
OUTREACH—Provides a theatre experience to those individuals, families or groups whom otherwise would not have the opportunity to experience a Theatre event.Return to Ways to Participate.
PROMOTION—Promotes membership and publicizes and promotes all aspects of the organization’s activities.Return to Ways to Participate.
RETAIL SALES CART—Assists the Friends before scheduled events and during intermission by selling Orpheum Theatre souvenirs at the retail cart located in the main lobby. These volunteers report in uniform to the pre-show briefing with the usher volunteers. Following the briefing, retail sales volunteers prepare the retail cart (usually about an hour before the scheduled event) for sales after the building opens.Return to Ways to Participate.
SPEAKERS BUREAU—Provides speakers to the community upon request and maintains and updates our presentation materials and equipment.Return to Ways to Participate.
SPECIAL EVENTS—Plans and handles all special events throughout the year and oversees all arrangements for those events.Return to Ways to Participate.
USHER CAPTAIN—Provides usher services at all events held at the Orpheum Theatre, including the scheduling of sufficient ushers to handle each event, placing reminder calls to the volunteers before each event, assigning positions to ushers upon arrival at the scheduled event, and supervising the ushers during the event.Return to Ways to Participate.
